Description

Synod is a Diocesan gathering of the leaders, both ordained & lay, who can expect to be inspired, encouraged, taught & trained for ministry. This year’s Annual Synod will feature The Rt. Rev. Kevin Bond Allen, Bishop of the Diocese of Cascadia and Dean of the College of Bishops Affairs, as our Plenary Speaker. We will gather on Friday night for our opening Eucharist so that we might worship together and on Saturday we will provide intensives and MAST Talks on key subjects in hope of equipping lay leaders for ministry in the Local Church. (Please see a bulleted schedule of the Synod below) Prior to the opening Eucharist on Friday evening 7:00pm (dinner at 4:30pm), beginning at 12:00pm with lunch, we will be meeting in Ministry Leader Cohorts designed to support Local Church ministry leaders. Please sign up to attend these. They include: Mission Team Leaders, Wardens, Intercessors, Life Ministry, Children's & Family Leaders (Mustard Seed), Treasurers, Worship Leaders, Administrators, Youth Leaders, University Leaders, Latino Leaders, and Altar Guild Leaders. Once again, this year we will be offering intensive training tracks led by clergy and laity with expertise in essential skills. This year there will be three of these intensives offered. The two morning intensives are (11:15am-1:45pm): 1. RED Youth Mentorship Training led by Eric Overholt, 2. Lay Mobilization Development led by the Rev. Cn. Dan Alger and the afternoon intensive (2:00pm-3:45pm) will be 3. Beyond Awkward led by Travis Wilson. We will also offer 4 sessions of ½-hour MAST Talks: 1 session in the morning before the beginning of our Saturday morning start, and 3 sessions during the time of the morning intensives. So please choose either a morning intensive or MAST Talks. The afternoon intensive is designed for those persons that are not delegates that will be staying through the business meeting time. We strongly encourage the participation of Local Church members who are not delegates but who will be equipped for disciple-making and missional community development. We have secured a group rate again at the Hampton Inn & Suites, Mission Viejo for $130/night. Please either call and mention Diocese of Western Anglicans for the discount (expires September 24th) or visit the site below. We hope to see you all there!
