This series blends art, history, and community through sharing local historical events, storytellers and interactive projects. Join the MAH and Blended Bridge as we highlight historical events through an evening with local storytellers. Listen in as community members share personal experiences to illuminate the ways in which we see history repeat itself on a local and national scale. Art. There will be a guided rock painting lesson where participants will have the opportunity to express what it means to exist and experience belonging in the outdoors. Throughout the night, contribute to the collaborative message board sharing your wish for our community in the outdoors. History & Connections. Be ready to team up with others: this event will conclude with History Trivia and the opportunity to continue to learn about movements and actions taken for the outdoors to be accessible to all and respectful of its past to present. Please be respectful of the areas designated for folks who wish to stay in their pod for this event. ** Yadira Flores is currently engaged with County Park Friends as a Community Mobilization Leader, a parent coordinator and part of the steering committee for Live Oak Cradle to Career, a first-generation college student,and a Community Health Worker for the Santa Cruz Health Center and Planned Parenthood (Promotora de Salud). Yadira is passionate about working within her community. Her heart belongs to the Live Oak community and her passion shines while working alongside our community.Yadira is an immigrant and mother of 4 growing kids. Oscar Corcoles is Chicano and a first generation college graduate. Oscar received their Bachelors degree in Sociology from UC Merced in 2017, and Masters in Education with a concentration in Equity and Social Justice from San Francisco State in the Spring of 2020. As a first generation student Oscar noticed many flaws within the K-12 education system that puts many Latinx students at a disadvantage when it comes to Higher Education. This is what has led Oscar to create Fuerza Latinx where they can assist Latinx students by providing resources , links, tips and potentially scholarships in the near future.
