Description

Few wine regions in the world conjure the ecstasy, heartbreak and beauty of France's Burgundy. Its wines haunting and complicated explained. A B O U TThe French Wine region of Burgundy (aka “Bourgogne”) arguably produces some of the most celebrated wines in the world. This ancient-Roman wine-growing region survived the turbulent Middle Ages, thanks to the Cîstercian monks who kept winemaking alive. They defined the style and lore of Burgundy until the French Revolution. Since then, the reputation of Burgundy has reached mythological proportions while its patchwork of vineyards, varied classifications, and thousand-dollar bottles sends chills through even the most seasoned wine pro. Fear not – the region need only be as complicated as you want it to be.  In this course we delve into the basics of Burgundy exploring its varied styles, terroirs, classification system, and renowned vineyards as well as compare and contrast a handful of wines from the region. Some of these bottles are rare—all of them will leave you breathless.  All participants receive 10% off all wine purchased at date of event/ post event.
