Begin your journey to awareness by finding your seat. In this workshop, you will learn ways to simplify and build a grounded meditation practice. Before anyhting else, the most important focus when starting to meditate is to be comfortable in how you sit. Being able to sit at ease for an extended period of time will allow the rest of your practice to unfold. We will go over several ways to sit or lay in order to find what works best for you. Next, we connect to the breath through pranayama as we go over simple breathing techniques. When we observe the breath, the importance of just being shines. The purpose of meditation is to cultivate awareness. With time and practice, it begins to change and deepen your consciousness. Some of the benefits of meditation include lowering stress, anxiety and sleep issues, improves emotional well being, improves memory and focus, boosts your immune system, greater empathy for self and others, increases self awareness, calms the nervous system and increases patience.
