WILMINGTON, MA — A Lawrence man pleaded guilty in federal court Tuesday in connection to a 50-pound cocaine package sent to a Wilmington business.
On May 19, 2020, Anthony Rafael Corcino, 33, attempted to obtain the parcel, prosecutors said.
After initially failing to get the drugs, he communicated multiple times with an undercover agent in an attempt to get the parcel, prosecutors said.
Corcino was charged in federal court in October.
According to court documents, the 50 pounds, or 23 kilograms, of cocaine is worth over $500,000.
Corcino pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine and one count of attempted possession with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine.
Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 19. Corcino could face up to life in prison for the charges.
