WALTHAM, MA — Waltham health officials reported Monday that the city has seen a consistent increase in COVID-19 cases since July 1. According to Director of Public Health Michelle Feeley, Waltham has had a total of 45 reported cases in the last 19 days. The case count includes both vaccinated and unvaccinated residents. "While this case count may not seem concerning to you, it is to us in the Health Department, especially with the rise of the Delta Variant across the country," said Feeley in a statement. As of Monday, Waltham is below the statewide vaccination average, with only 58% of locals being vaccinated for COVID-19. "We encourage everyone to get vaccinated, and we remind everyone that has only received their first dose to get their second, you should be fully vaccinated," said Feeley. "We want your help in getting out case numbers down, increase our vaccine average, and to help protect the entire community."
