Description

Daniel Harwin, Esq., founding partner of Fort Lauderdale-based Freedland Harwin Valori Ryan, PL (FHV), was recently recognized in the 2021 edition of Florida Trend’s Florida Legal Elite™ in the Civil Trial practice area. The list of 1,263 honorees includes attorneys in private practice as well as top government and nonprofit attorneys. For the 18th year, Florida Legal Elite has presented its prestigious roster of attorneys chosen for recognition by their peers. The honorees exemplify a standard of excellence in their profession and garnered the respect and esteem of their colleagues. Harwin represents victims of medical malpractice and clients who have been wrongfully injured in catastrophic accidents. He also handles personal injury matters, pharmaceutical liability and cases involving nursing home and assisted living neglect and abuse. He has achieved multimillion-dollar settlements on behalf of his clients. “It is a great honor to be named to Florida Trend’s Florida Legal Elite, among Florida’s top attorneys,” said Harwin. “To be recognized by my peers as an attorney who exemplifies a standard of excellence is a reflection of my dedication to the legal field.”Voting for this year’s Legal Elite attorneys began in October 2020, when Florida Trend invited all in-state members of The Florida Bar to participate. Lawyers were asked to name attorneys whom they hold in the highest regard or would recommend to others. The ballots were processed, checked and tabulated by an outside vendor. Attorneys were given a score based on the number of votes received, with more weight given to votes from outside their respective firms. Only lawyers currently licensed and practicing in Florida were eligible for selection. The list of top vote-getters was further examined using membership status and histories provided by The Florida Bar. A panel of previous Legal Elite winners, representing different practice areas in cities across the state, reviewed the selection process and list of finalists. The resulting lists represent just over 1% of the active Florida Bar members who practice in Florida. “Florida Trend’s Legal Elite program is an opportunity to celebrate Florida Bar members from a wide range of practice areas who have earned a high level of respect and esteem from their peers. The Florida Bar applauds those who were selected for this prestigious honor, which reflects their commitment to excellence and professionalism in the field of law,” notes The Florida Bar President Michael G. Tanner. “Now in its 18th year, the Florida Legal Elite, published in Florida Trend's July issue, provides its 270,000 readers with a peer-reviewed resource listing of the best lawyers in the state,” says Publisher David G. Denor. When not in trial, Harwin lobbies for the rights of consumers, including as a board member for the Broward County Justice Association and a member of the Florida Justice Association’s Medical Malpractice Committee. He is also a member of the American Association for Justice Birth Trauma Litigation Group. Harwin earned his J.D. from the University of Miami, and his Bachelor of Arts with honors from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. He is a member of The Florida Bar and is admitted into the U.S. District Court Southern District of Florida.
