Description

PORT CHESTER, NY — On Monday, a 33-year-old male collapsed in the checkout line at a Port Chester supermarket and first responders soon realized he wasn't breathing. PCPD Officers Fox and Romanello rushed to help. Police soon realized the male wasn't breathing and was apparently overdosing. The two officers then began CPR and gave the unconscious man naloxone to counter the effects of narcotics. With the assistance of paramedics, they were able to reverse the effects of the overdose and get the man breathing and stabilized. "Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident and happens too often, but please know that members of the PD and EMS are highly skilled and have the ability to hopefully make a bad day better," Port Chester police officials said in a statement commending the officers. "Good job, by all involved." The early administration of Narcan is credited with saving the man's life. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
