Description
soulCARE Sunday Vinyasa is a vibe, join us weekly for a divine yoga class, with a fire playlist and a flow through your Sun A, Sun B & Sun C salutations - moving the body, focusing on the breath and becoming present in this vibe. Vinyasa in Sanskrit translates to “flow”. The framework around our classes is to offer a space to breathe, and then allow students to move at their own rhythm. In vinyasa every movement or asana (posture) is linked to an inhalation and exhalation. Vinyasa is traditionally split up into 3 flows- Sun A is a gentle warm up flow, geared to ignite the breath and spirit. Following is Sun B- a simple, but dynamic flow of yang postures to increase the heart rate and begin to build tapas (heat); the final warm up flow- Sun C- is another string of dynamic asanas, but with a focal point of back and forth movement that’s also meant to build heat, and sharpen one’s focus. Vinyasa specifically focuses on the breathwork style “ujayi pranayama” which translates to victorious breathing in Sanskrit. We always say, vinyasa is a breathing class first. We don’t care much for how you look in a posture (we may offer slight adjustments and tips for alignment), or even if you’re doing the posture we instruct at all, what matters is that you’re breathing. Though there is nothing wrong with gaining and mastering skills, that is simply not what vinyasa, or yoga in general, is about. Yoga is an opportunity to go inward, to reconnect with your inner body and higher self. Yoga literally means to “tie together”. In this practice we are “tying together” mind and body. Yoga is unification, together we become one and we breathe as one. We believe breathwork serves as a gateway for igniting the spirit, purification of the inner body, and alignment and activation of the 7 chakras or Nadis (channels of energy that align vertically and horizontally through the inner body). The framework around our classes is to offer a space to breathe, and then allow students to move at their own rhythm. We like to say vinyasa is life training!
