NYC Will See 5 Massive Concerts Across City For 'Homecoming Week'

NEW YORK CITY — New Yorkers take note — five massive concerts are headed to the city for its upcoming "Homecoming Week." An already-announced Central Park mega-concert on Aug. 21 will be preceded by four shows across the other boroughs, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced. The concerts are part of "Homecoming Week" — a citywide cultural celebration from Aug. 14 to 21 marking New York City's resilience through the coronavirus pandemic. "All in Homecoming Week, five iconic, extraordinary concerts — one in each borough," he said. De Blasio, who is 60, repeatedly and cheekily urged New Yorkers to avoid "FOMO," or fear of missing out. Not going to the concerts would be akin to skipping Woodstock, he said. To drive the point home, he issued an impromptu "FOMO Alert" with a handmade sign. "If you miss it and you live a life of regret, it will not be because your city didn't try to alert you," he said. FOMO ALERT #NYCHomecomingWeek isn't just bringing 1 concert to #NYC. Rocky Bucano, the museum's executive director, announced the schedule and venues: Aug. 16 Orchard Beach in the Bronx Aug. 17 Richmond County Bank Park in Staten Island Aug. 19 Brooklyn Army Terminal in Brooklyn Aug. 20 Forest Hills Stadium in Queens Aug. 21 Central Park Bucano didn't hint as to the lineup for the shows outside of Central Park's mega-concert.
