STATEN ISLAND, NY — The home nurse for a Staten Island man who was beaten to death earlier this week was charged with assaulting her young daughter just hours after the man's body was discovered inside his apartment, according to multiple published reports. Renee Ayarde, 28, reportedly pushed her 3-year-old daughter to the ground and dragged her along Hester Street on Manhattan's Lower East Side, the New York Daily News reported on Thursday. The woman, who has a previous criminal record, according to the paper, then also allegedly threw a full bottle of water at the young girl. The newspaper reported that Ayarde then grabbed the phone out of a passerby who called 911 after she witnessed the encounter between Ayarde and her daughter. Ayarde has not been charged in connection with the death of Robert Raynor, 80, who was found dead inside his Staten Island apartment Monday morning with the words, "I touch little girls" written in black ink across his chest. The New York City medical examiner declared Raynor's death a homicide on Wednesday and said he died from blunt trauma to his head and torso. Ayarde was charged with assaulting a child in Manhattan Criminal Court on Wednesday and was ordered held on $5,000 bail. The Daily News cited a police source in reporting that Ayarde has not been ruled out as a suspect in Raynor's death. Carolyn Whetstone, Raynor's daughter, told The Daily News that she is looking for answers in her father's death as police continue to investigate the homicide. She told the newspaper, however, that her father – who she said is stricken with cancer – is not a pedophile. Whetstone did not immediately respond to a message sent to her by Patch on Thursday. "That's not my father," Whetstone told the Daily News. "He would not touch a child. He would never violate anyone. He's got daughters and granddaughters that he's watched when he's come to visit me ... That's not him. That's not true."
