Description
OAK CREEK, WI — Ice skating is typically not a common activity during July. With summer in full force, though, and plenty of heat to go around, it may be a great way to cool off and prepare for winter activities.
Oak Creek Recreation will be holding ice skating lessons at the Wilson Ice Center in Milwaukee. The city's recreation department will hold a course for individuals and families starting on Saturday. The lessons are designed to develop the initial coordination and strength that is needed to get comfortable on the ice, according to the Oak Creek Recreation catalog.
The program follows one designed by the U.S. Figure Skating Association, and is for beginners, the catalog said.
Each lesson is part of a seven-week program that will take ice skaters from unsure to comfortable, according to the course catalog. It will run on Saturday's until September 4.
Oak Creek residents must pay a $125 fee to enroll in the ice skating program. Skate rentals are not included with the program, the course catalog said, and will cost an extra $3 per rental at the Wilson Ice Center.
The Wilson Ice Center is located at 4001 S. 20th Street in Milwaukee.
