LINDENHURST, NY —Sand City Brewing Co. opened its brewery in a downtown retail space that was vacant for more than a year, and the brewery is being recognized for helping "Main Street revitalization."
PSEG Long Island gave Sand City a $25,000 grant for bringing new life to downtown Lindenhurst Village when it opened Sand City South earlier this year.
The utility company awards grants as part of its Long Island's Main Street Revitalization program, meant to support the use of vacant or underused space in a business district.
"In the few weeks since it opened, the South Wellwood Ave. location is already proving to be a destination for local residents and Long Islanders," PSEG said in a news release.
Sand City South owners Bill Kiernan and Kevin Sihler also received discounted electricity for a year from PSEG under the PSEG Long Island's Vacant Space Revival Program, designed to reward small businesses who renovate commercial space that's been vacant for over a year.
