Summer Food Drive In Town Of Huntington: How To Donate

HUNTINGTON STATION, NY — Island Harvest and PSEG kicked off their summer food collection campaign, "Power to Feed Long Island," on July 8. The event is scheduled to run through mid-to-late September and is being supported by Suffolk County Legislator Tom Donnelly (D—Huntington Station). The event began at the Island Harvest Food Bank in Melville and will continue on certain dates at select grocery stores in Nassau and Suffolk County through Sept. 24, according to a news release from Donnelly's office. Island Harvest and PSEG are set to hold a drive at Stop & Shop, at 1100 Jericho Turnpike,Huntington Station, on Sept. 17. Items may be dropped off there that day between10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Items can also be dropped off in advance at Donnelly's District Office, at 130 West JerichoTurnpike, Huntington Station, Monday through Thursday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Donnelly will be accepting items through noon Sept. 16. All donated items will be then be brought to the food drive on Sept. 17. For a full listof dates and locations throughout Long Island, as well as most needed food items, residents are encouraged to visit the Feed LI initiative on the PSEG website. "I applaud Island Harvest and PSEG for partnering to help feed those among us in need,"Donnelly stated via release. "I am happy to support them by having my office collect donations for this critically important cause."
