So far, states have largely managed their own vaccination coordination efforts — and some have proven more efficient at it than others. In Washington, 57.3% of the population are fully vaccinated, higher than the U.S. average. As of July 20, Washington has received about 9,580,300 vaccinations and administered about 92.5% of those doses. As the virus mutates and new variants spread, vaccinating the population as rapidly as possible is critical. In total, there have been 460,067 confirmed cases of the virus in Washington as of July 20 — or 6,105 for every 100,000 people.
