ORANGE, CT — Milford Alderman Win Smith has announced his candidacy for Probate Judge in the Milford/Orange Probate District. According to a news release, Smith recently held and overflow gathering and fundraiser for family, friends and supporters at the Stonebridge Restaurant in downtown Milford. "I am honored by the outpouring of support from our community," Smith said in a news release. "My years of work in the region's probate courts has given me the deep appreciation of the work done by the Probate Courts in our communities. Judge Streit-Kefalas ran a terrific probate court here and, if elected, I would follow in her footsteps." Milford Republican Town Chairman John Drapp said Smith's support was an amazing surprise. "Attorney Smith's support has really caught us by surprise," Drapp said. "This is amazing. We far surpassed our goals for this 'announcement fundraiser.' It speaks well of his years of work on behalf of his constituents and in the probate courts. His qualifications speak for themselves." Many current and former elected officials came out in support of Win, including former House Minority Leader Themis Klarides, Representative Kathy Kennedy and Milford Minority Leader Tony Giannattasio, according to the release. The Republican Nominating Convention for Probate Court Judge will be held July 22 at 6 p.m. at the Board of Education room in the Parsons Complex at 70 West River Street in Milford.
