Maintaining your summer garden to extend the harvest and keep your plants healthy and chores manageable
It is already July and the season is in full swing! What better time to learn about what you can do to keep the harvest going than before it has a chance to get away from you. We are hosting a workshop in our space to show you first hand things you can do to keep your plants healthy well into fall. Topics will include keeping your tomatoes healthy and productive (reducing chances of blight), how to trim, trellis, and stake your vegetables effectively, ways to extend annual and perennial bloom times, getting the most out of your plants as far as harvests, and knowing when to harvest your summer veggies. Pest management practices as well as what your plants are trying to tell you when they have spotted, wilted, or browning leaves, as well as when it is time to retire your plants and plant something else.
This is a bring your questions and first hand challenges type of workshop. We have been growing in the city for 10 years and in our current space for 3 years, come learn with us. Pay what you can, suggested fee of $10-15 as I don't want to limit people who want to learn from us but cannot afford to pay, please confirm attendance to give us an approximate attendance.
Saturday July 31st at 11am, @ 4617 Bancroft St, expect 1-2 hours for the workshop depending on questions.
