Your Arlington Last Updated: 21 July 2021 Written by Newsletter, Bob Sprague UPDATED, July 21: The Arlington Farmers' Market, managed by Patsy Kraemer, has reopened for its 24th year at 29 Mystic St., Russell Common lot, and continues Wednesday, July 21, from 2 to 6:30 p.m. At the market this week: Tomatoes, corn, beans, squash, greens, peaches, blueberries; Valicenti Farm has their great raviolis and sauce; and At Mamadou's, try a croissant with Vietnamese Iced Coffee, Lemonade, or ginger tea. Mother's Kitchen has masala bowls and Indian curries. And at Chestnut Farms, to-die-for sweet and hot Italian sausages and fresh and smoked kielbasa. Work to gather community input on the Arlington housing plan is underway. Town planning staff plan to be available at the market July 14, 21 and 28 to discuss ongoing opportunities to host your own discussion group on housing with a "Meeting in a Box," yet to be described. Alphabet soup saves dough Look for the vendors displaying SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and HIB (Healthy Incentives Program) signs in their booths. HIP allows a monthly cap of up to $40, $60 or $80 (based on family size) back on your EBT card when you use SNAP to buy healthy, local fruits and vegetables from HIP farm vendors. No signup is necessary; automatically part of and added to SNAP account when used. Call the Council on Aging at 781-316-3400 for more information. Parking in the town lot is no longer free. See the signs and pay stations for payment methods, now including online. There will be no Covid-related restrictions at the market this year, except one: Please wear a mask if you have not been fully vaccinated.
