HEMPSTEAD, NY — Nassau County police have released more information about they car they are looking for in connection to a hit-and-run in Hempstead on July 10 that left a man in critical condition.
According to police, a man was crossing North Franklin Avenue near Jackson Street at 9:49 p.m. when he was hit by a dark-colored Jeep. The driver of the Jeep fled in an unknown direction.
The man was taken to a nearby hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.
Police say the car they're looking for is newer model, dark-colored Jeep Cherokee. It was heading north on Franklin Avenue when it hit the man, and then fled east on Jackson Street.
Earlier that same night, a 31-year-old man driving an ATV was hit at the intersection of Peninsula Boulevard and South Franklin Street. Police are looking for a dark blue, older model Nissan Altima in connection with that incident. The man who was hit has since died of his injuries, police said.
