NEW LONDON, CT — Police are investigating a vandalism incident that resulted in $4,000 in damages at Ocean Beach Park in New London. Police were called Monday at 4:47 p.m. to Ocean Beach Park regarding vandalism and larceny that occurred the previous night.
A section of pipe had been damaged near the pool and waterslides. Fencing near the pool was also damaged and two signs were reported stolen.
The vandalism occurred while the park was closed and discovered by workers Monday morning, according to The New London Day. The pipe being broken caused extensive flooding and mud to pour into the area.
Crews spent Monday and Tuesday removing six inches of dirt and mud from the surrounding area around the slide, work that will cost an estimated $4,000 to $5,000, The New London Day reported.
Anyone with information on the incident can contact police at 860-447-1481 or send anonymous information to the New London Tips 411 system by texting NLPDTip plus the information to Tip411 (847411).
