Come join our Academy After School Program team! The Academy's after school program goes beyond what is expected of an after school program. We provide a structured plan to improve the health, grades, confidence, focus, leadership skills, and self-esteem of our students. Each day includes monitored homework time, physical activity, creative time, and weekly martial arts classes. In addition to healthy exercise and learning to defend oneself, our martial arts classes include the Academy’s Character Development program. Students learn the Academy’s philosophy of self-discipline, respect, responsibility, and integrity, both in their martial arts classes and the after school program. We are looking for people who can embody our philosophy and encourage students to grow and strive to be their best. Experience in martial arts is a plus, but not required. All after school staff must demonstrate the ability to assist elementary students with their homework, follow Academy structure and philosophy, and maintain a positive attitude with students, staff, and parents. Visit our website and this link for more information Contact us: [email protected] or (860) 646-7993 Job Responsibilities and Requirements: After School Leader: *Ensure students follow the procedures for homework completion. *Maintain the structure and routine of the after school program. *Check and correct student school homework. *Supervise the After School Mentors. *Facilitate small and large group activities for students within the Academics space. *Work with the program director to create and implement character development lessons. *Complete attendance records as well as other simple administrative tasks. *Maintain a clean and sanitary environment. *Create a positive, upbeat healthy environment in which students can grow. -High School Diploma or GED. -Experience working with children. -Availability (part time): 2:00-5:30pm, 2 to 5 days/week (Monday-Friday) -Flexibility for early school half days, snow days, etc., starting at 12:00pm. After School Mentors: *Ensure students follow the procedures for homework completion. *Maintain the structure and routine of the after school program. *Check and correct student school homework. *Assist with recreation time. *Assist After School Leader with group activities. *Maintain a clean and sanitary environment. -At least 16 years old. -Availability (part time): 2:00-5:30pm, 2 to 5 days/week (Monday-Friday). -Flexibility for early school half days, snow days, etc., starting at 12:00pm. Drivers: *Pick up students from their school in Academy vehicles and bring them to the Academy. *Safely drive a minivan, SUV, and/or small van. *Follow all school and Academy procedures for pick-up and drop-off. -At least 21 years old. -Must have a valid license. -Clean driving record. -Availability (part time): 2:00-4:00pm, 2 to 5 days/week (Monday-Friday) -Flexibility for early school half days, snow days, etc., starting at 12:00pm. **Background checks are required for all positions in the Academy’s After School Program.
