HAMDEN, CT — An 18-year-old New Haven resident was arrested Tuesday in connection with a shooting in Hamden last month, according to police. Police responded to the area of Morse Street and Shelton Avenue on June 11 on the report of "shots fired," according to Capt. Ronald Smith. Smith said residents reported that three young men were walking on Morse Street near Shelton Avenue when three men got out of a dark-colored sedan and fired multiple gunshots at them. "They subsequently ran eastbound on Morse Street, in an attempt to find cover," Smith wrote in a news release. "They did not sustain any injuries. Bullets damaged a house and a motor vehicle." Detective Mark Sheppard conducted an investigation that to an arrest warrant for De'or Freeman. Freeman, 18, of Hurlburt Street in New Haven, was arrested on charges of criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault, illegal discharge of a firearm, weapon in a motor vehicle and first-degree reckless endangerment. He was held in lieu of a $500,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 11. Smith said more arrests are expected in connection with the case.
