Woman Robbed At Knifepoint While Waiting For Bus: Hamden Police

HAMDEN, CT — A woman was robbed of her purse at knifepoint while she was waiting for the bus early Friday morning in Hamden, according to police. The 60-year-old woman was waiting for a bus around 5:45 a.m. at the corner of Dixwell Avenue and North Street when a vehicle, described as a dark gray four-door sedan, stopped next to her, according to Capt. Ronald Smith. Smith said a man got out of the vehicle and brandished a knife. He pointed the knife into the "top half" of her chest and threw her to the ground, according to Smith. The woman's shoulder was injured and her purse, which contained money and credit cards, was stolen, Smith said. The robber was described as a black man, around 22 to 31 years old, 5 feet, 6 inches to 5 feet, 8 inches tall with a thin build, according to Smith. He was wearing a gray-hooded sweatshirt.
