Description
GREENWICH, CT — Someone attempted to break into Greenwich Pharmacy located at 13 N. Water Street in Byram in the early morning hours last Saturday but they were interrupted by a passerby, according to the Greenwich Police Department.
Two front glass doors were broken just after 5 a.m. on July 17. A passerby noticed and the person fled, said Lt. John Slusarz of the GPD, adding that no items were reported stolen.
"It doesn't appear they actually made it beyond going through the doors," Slusarz said.
The incident comes on the heels of two burglaries at pharmacies on Greenwich Avenue on the same night. On June 20, thieves broke into Grannick's Pharmacy at 277 Greenwich Ave., and Greenwich Pharmacy at 116 Greenwich Ave. The burglaries remain under investigation.
Slusarz said the two on Greenwich Avenue "are probably connected" because they happened around the same time in the same location, but until investigators process more evidence, the GPD can't say with certainty.
"We don't know if this [latest incident] is connected yet," Slusarz said. "We can make some assumptions, but then again it's too early, we don't have any evidence processed to connect any of them yet."
Capt. Mark Zuccerella said last month that other towns have experienced similar burglaries at pharmacies recently. The GPD's Detective Division has been in contact with police agencies in those areas.
