HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — For the first time since 2019, Concord Point Lighthouse will be open to the public. The opening date is set for National Lighthouse Day, which for 2021 falls on Saturday, Aug. 7. The last time it opened the interior to the public for tours was in October 2019, according to the Friends of Concord Point Lighthouse, the nonprofit that oversees the stewardship of the historic structure. "We are excited to welcome visitors back to our cherished lighthouse, after the closure that we felt was necessary during the pandemic," Joan Painter, president of the board of the Friends of Concord Point Lighthouse, said in a statement. "We invite you to come and climb the tower that weekend, and all remaining weekends from August through the end of October."
