Learn advanced yoga poses from the Ashtanga 2nd Series with 500 YTT Maureen Dinkins
This workshop you will learn the first half of the Ashtanga Yoga Intermediate Series. Whether you are an advanced or intermediate yoga practitioner, you will find these poses to be therapeutic as well as challenging.
The Intermediate (2nd) Series is called Nadi Shodhana, which means “nerve cleansing”. The poses are specifically designed to bend and twist the spine in a series of backbends, twisted postures, deep hip openers, and arm balances. Students will begin to understand the logic of this sequence and how it is designed to calm and center the mind by challenging the body.
Because of these deep spinal twists and bends, fluctuations of the mind may occur. Therefore, it is beneficial to do some Pranayama in addition to the 2nd Series Asanas. Afterward, we will explore several different types of Pranayama (breath exercises) that will help the mind maintain or achieve a calm and centered state.
