Description
Join Preservation Detroit for a walking tour of Detroit's dynamic Midtown neighborhood on 1st and 3rd Saturdays! Detroit Midtown Tour: 1st and 3rd Saturdays On the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month, we explore Detroit’s exciting Midtown neighborhood, home to dramatic changes in recent years. Set on some of Detroit’s original ribbon farms, this dynamic neighborhood became home to Detroit’s movers and shakers! Learn about its role in the early days of the automotive industry as well as its leading role in the city’s historic preservation efforts. See some of the city’s most cherished historic homes, renovated buildings, and avant-garde businesses. From its days on the farm to today’s vibrant urban neighborhood, Midtown is full of distinctly Detroit stories. The tour departs from Avalon International Breads at 422 West Willis. Please meet just outside the entrance door. Items to note about our tours: THIS IS A WALKING TOUR. All guests should be prepared to walk, sometimes on surfaces under construction, for more than two hours. All tours take place rain or shine and are about 2 to 2.5 hours long.
