ANNAPOLIS, MD — The Annapolis Police Department said a scammer tried to file for unemployment benefits after stealing somebody's personal information. Officers noted that they heard word of the fraud around 10:10 a.m. last Thursday after getting a call to the 1000 block of Hanson Street.
The victim told authorities that her employer alerted her of the fraudulent unemployment claim under her name, an incident report added. The government did not pay out any money to the swindler, the press release informed.
