ANNAPOLIS, MD — The Annapolis Police Department said a scammer tried to file for unemployment benefits after stealing somebody's personal information. Officers noted that they heard word of the fraud around 10:10 a.m. last Thursday after getting a call to the 1000 block of Hanson Street. The victim told authorities that her employer alerted her of the fraudulent unemployment claim under her name, an incident report added.
