BOULDER, CO — Boulder police are searching for an SUV that's wanted in connection with a crash Monday that left a moped driver injured.
A man was driving the moped around 3 p.m. near the intersection of 9th and Pearl streets, when a black, mid-size SUV pulled out in front of him, police said. The moped driver braked and overturned to avoid striking the SUV, according to authorities.
The moped driver was wearing a helmet, and he was taken to Boulder Community Health with serious injuries not deemed to be life-threatening.
"Based on witness statements, the SUV was parked on the east side of 9th Street against the barriers closing Pearl Street for approximately 7 minutes before the crash and a passenger entered the back passenger side of the vehicle just before the incident, indicating that the SUV might be a ride share," the Boulder Police Department said in a news release.
