ANNAPOLIS, MD — Annapolis will host its first Social Justice Celebrity Charity Weekend this Thursday through Saturday. The event will unite residents and celebrities for three days of sports, art and entertainment. The highlights are: A yacht partyA basketball clinicAn art workshopA pop-up clothing shopA firefighters versus police officers basketball gameAn all-star basketball game The ticket sales will benefit these causes: Renovations to Chambers ParkThe Breonna Taylor FoundationThe Greater Parole Community Association These celebrities will flock to the state capital this weekend: Former NBA player Stephen Jackson, most recently of the Los Angeles ClippersFormer NBA player Lance Stephenson, most recently of the Los Angeles LakersCurrent NBA player Rudy Gay of the San Antonio SpursChild actor, rapper and Annapolis resident Dylan Gilmer of the Nickelodeon show "Tyler Perry's Young Dylan" Red Carpet A red carpet event will kick off the weekend Thursday from 6 to 6:45 p.m. This will be hosted by "The Unbiased Podcast," which covers music, sports and entertainment. Yacht Party A white-clothing yacht party will follow. The ticketed cruise will depart from City Dock at 7 p.m. It will feature rapper Rah Digga and DJ Akademiks of WPGC 95.5 FM. Basketball Clinic Friday will include a basketball skills clinic with Patrick Robinson, owner of the Pat The Roc Basketball Skills Academy. The free event will take 40 kids, aged 8 to 13, who will all get complimentary T-shirts, drinks and snacks. The clinic will take place at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Art Workshop Annapolis muralist Comacell Brown Jr., also known as Cell Spitfire, will teach an art workshop for children aged 9 to 16 this Friday. The free offering starts at 10:30 a.m. and lasts until 12:30 p.m. It is also slated for the Boys & Girls Club. Financial Literacy Workshop A financial literacy workshop will also be at the Boys & Girls Club on Friday. The free panel goes from 1 to 3 p.m., and it spotlights these speakers: NaTasha Horton, the vice president and the community development manager of TruistJason Broadnax, the CEO of Moor GlobalWill Holmes, the owner of Will Holmes Consulting and the chair of the Baltimore City Chamber of CommerceAnthony Henry, the general manager of the Annapolis Towne CentreRasheed Aziz, the CEO of the City Wide Youth Entrepreneurship ProgramDJ Akademiks of WPGC 95.5 FM Pop-Up Clothing Shop A pop-up shop will round out Friday's plans. Brands like Tunnel Vision and RG 22 Clothing, which is operated by Gay, will be at the Annapolis Towne Centre next to Paper Source from 4 to 9 p.m. Basketball Games The weekend will end Saturday with a firefighters versus police officers basketball game and an all-star competition.
