In an effort to continue to honor the memory of Officer Gordon Beesley and Good Samaritan Johnny Hurley and provide a forum to highlight positive stories in the community, the City of Arvada has developed a new project on the Speak Up Arvada online engagement platform to encourage sharing of good news from the community.
Launched one month after the tragic events in Olde Town, the "Find the Good" campaign is inspired by Officer Beesley's motto: "Find the good in everyone." Members of the community are invited to visit https://speakup.arvada.org/find-the-good to share thoughts and feelings on community, heroism, courage, or other topics in text, photo, or video format.
The intent is to provide a forum to find the stories and good news happening in the community and to re-share this across the City and partner communications. It is a small way the City can support healing in the community and turn the tragedy into something that makes us stronger.
Speak Up Arvada is the City's online engagement platform, providing the community with convenient ways to provide feedback that helps shape City projects and issues. Additional background and memorial information about Office Beesley can be found at https://arvada.org/arvada-line-of-duty-death.
