MORRISTOWN, NJ — After many virtual meetings throughout the pandemic, Morristown will conduct meetings in-person beginning Sept. 1. The town has conducted meetings via Zoom during the pandemic, while also taking public comment via the program. Videos of the Town Council meetings are available here and were made available before going virtual. At June 10's Town Council meeting, officials discussed the possibility of conducting hybrid meetings in which the public could view them in-person or virtually. But Town Administrator Jillian Barrick wanted to ensure that Morristown figured out the technology for running such meetings. "Other towns have conducted hybrid meetings without being thoughtful about technology, and there was a lot of feedback and interference, and it didn't work very well," Barrick said. "So I want to make sure that we don't jump in without understanding the technology and equipment that might be necessary." It's not immediately clear whether the town will hold hybrid meetings starting Sept. 1. Patch will update with any response from officials. Morristown still has some important meetings to hold before it goes virtual, including a special council meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday. Town Council will decide whether to grant a tax incentive to an apartment developer.
