DALLAS, TX —A Plano home is rubble, blown to bits in an explosion Monday evening. Six people near the blast are hospitalized — including three children —suffering cuts and multiple shrapnel wounds. Now authorities are postulating that the explosion "may have been intentional." So far, there's only been a short update from the Plano Police Department, which doesn't weigh heavily into what triggered the investigation, what's been found or why someone would want to blow up the house at Cleveland Drive, near Ohio Drive and West Park Boulevard. Until it's revised, the official account from fire authorities in Plano Tuesday said their initial finding was that there was a gas leak. Wednesday, the police did say the event appeared isolated, and that there was no impending danger to the community. But law enforcement there was also tight-lipped with further details — including whether any arrests have been made in connection with the blast. When fire fighters arrived on the scene Monday, they found nothing left of the house but debris. Not only was that dwelling leveled, but adjacent homes sustained severe damage. Nearby homes also had their windows shattered by the explosion, and remnants of insulation and chunks of roofing were scattered for yards across the block. When crews from the FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives examined the rubble and ruins Tuesday, they brought along a dog trained in detecting explosives, but they reported nothing that indicated foul play. Now the Plano Fire Marshal and police are taking a second, and closer, look. Among those injured were an adult in the home that was razed to the ground and an entire family of two parents and three small boys. According to a neighbor, they have all suffered shrapnel wounds of glass, wood and metal, and the father of three has had to undergo surgery. Other neighbors have expressed surprise that the explosion could have resulted from an intentional act, but are waiting on more official findings to be released. Looking for more Dallas news?
