AUSTIN, TX — The body of a Donna man who went missing in Lake Travis on July 10 has been found, according to the Travis County Sheriff's Office's Lake Patrol Unit. Jacob Martinez, 23, was found during a shoreline search on Thursday. His body was found north of the area where he was reportedly last seen. At 6:10 p.m. on July 10, the sheriff's office responded to a report of a missing swimmer in the Sandy Creek Arm of Lake Travis. Multiple agencies responded and exhausted every effort to recover Martinez. By 6:57 p.m., the rescue transitioned to a recovery effort. In the days that followed, TCSO conducted shoreline searches daily. TCSO Lake Patrol boats searched using various types of sonar. They were assisted Tuesday by Texas Parks & Wildlife and Wednesday by Austin Police Department, who utilized their sonar systems. Starflight and TCSO's Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (drone) Unit conducted aerial searches. An underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle as well as Texas Search & Rescue K9s were also part of the search efforts, officials said. An investigation into the cause and manner of Martinez' death is being conducted by the Travis County Medical Examiner's Office. This is the second death to occur on Lake Travis in July.
