AUSTIN, TX — Three people who died in a fatal crash on July 11 in southeast Austin have been identified, according to the Austin Police Department. Fabien Xavier Mireles, 16; Raul Vargas Jr., 40; and Juan Antonio Mireles-Perez, 40, died July 11 after their truck impacted another car and veered off the road in the 4400 block of E. Ben White Boulevard. Authorities said a gray 2009 Chevy Silverado truck and a maroon 2009 Acura car were traveling westbound on the road when they made contact with each other. The impact forced the Silverado truck to over the barrier and landing on its roof in a parking lot near the frontage road. Mireles, Vargas and Mireles-Perez all died at the scene. The passenger in the Acura was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators, authorities said. This is Austin's 60th fatal traffic crash of 2021, resulting in 65 fatalities for the year. On the date of this crash in 2020, there were 43 fatal crashes resulting in 46 fatalities, officials said.
