LIVE OAK, CA — A man was arrested this week in connection with a January shooting in Live Oak that sent one person to the hospital. Patrick Diaz, 29, of Watsonville was arrested Monday in Twin Falls, Idaho, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office announced Friday. Officials are arranging for Diaz to be extradited to Santa Cruz County, where he was charged in February with four felonies related to attempted murder, assault with a semiautomatic rifle, firing a gun from a car and gang activity, court records showed. He also faces numerous enhancements, which prosecutors can tack onto charges to enhance a potential punishment. The shooting took place Jan. 13 in the 2500 block of Soquel Drive near Winkle Avenue. Diaz was arrested with the help of the Twin Falls Police Department, the sheriff's office said. Diaz is one of three men tied to the shooting. Earlier this year, the sheriff's office arrested Daniel A. Tostado, 19, of Watsonville, who remained in custody Friday morning. No information on the third suspect has been released yet, sheriff's office spokesperson Ashley Keehn said Friday. This is a developing story; refresh for updates.
