Here are the top stories today in Sacramento: Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg will meet with Old Sacramento business owners to discuss ways to improve safety after the shooting last week that left 2 dead and 4 others injured. Some business owners are discussing the possibility of removing the Ferris wheel on the waterfront . They say it is attracting a lot of unsupervised juveniles. (ABC10) An increase in domestic violence reports as we emerge from the pandemic may be the reason behind two Sacramento homicides in two weeks, say authorities. Emerging from the pandemic could the the reason for the rise. According to experts, abuse often escalates as abusers attempt to maintain control. Right now, even returning to in-person work and school could be a similar trigger. (CBS Sacramento) The City has the power to remove homeless encampments from critical infrastructure sites but up until now it hasn't been spelled out exactly what that means. That changed on Tuesday when the City of Sacramento passed an ordinance that prohibits camping within 25 feet of over 100 sites across the city. (CBS Sacramento) The new State budget, signed into law by Governor Newsom last week includes nearly $150 million for quality of life issues for Sacramento. The budget includes $30M for infrastructure to develop the Sacramento Railyard and $2M to convert a shuttered nursery into an agricultural hub, among other things. (Sacramento City Express) The Sacramento housing market has been hot, hot, hot! With the trend toward more working from home and millennials coming into the market, people want to own homes in the Capital City.
