Description
PORTSMOUTH, RI — This week marked some changes for the historic properties managed by the Preservation Society of Newport County.
Starting Friday, Portsmouth's Green Animals Topiary Garden will stay open late on Friday and Saturday nights to allow visitors to enjoy the sunset over the Narragansett Bay. Both the garden and the "David Rogers' Big Bugs" exhibition will stay open until sunset, with the last admissions one hour before sunset.
On July 30, Chateau-sur-Mer will reopen for the season, offering self-guided tours Friday through Monday. Tickets will not be sold at the property, but will be available to buy at The Breakers, Marble House and The Elms or online.
While Marble House was set to close after Labor Day, the house will now stay open to the public through Oct. 31.
Finally, the special servant life tour at The Elms will resume Friday. It will be held twice daily at 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., limited to 12 people per group. Advance reservations will be required.
