PROVIDENCE, RI — Music is coming to Roger Williams Park. On Aug. 4, the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra will perform their 2021 Summer Pops in the Park Concert at the Temple of Music.
This year's concert will be "A Tribute to the Human Spirit." The concert will be free and open to the public, kicking off at 7 p.m. In the event of rain, it will be rescheduled to the following day.
"This world-class concert by the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra is free of charge, ensuring community members have equitable access to Rhode Island's finest orchestral music in one of Providence's most beloved parks," Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza said. "Music can positively impact human development and creativity, and this concert provides our residents yet another no-cost, highly-enjoyable arts experience."
The orchestra has performed in the park each year since 2016.
Philharmonic Executive Director David Beauchesne said the orchestra "can't wait to be back at the Temple of Music."
"We are so grateful to the Rhode Island Foundation and the City of Providence for bringing Pops in the Park back to Roger Williams Park, and to our new sponsors, the Papitto Opportunity Connection, TACO/The White Family Foundation, Roger Williams Park Conservancy, PEMA and PVDFest for joining the effort to make this important community event accessible to all," Beauchesne said.
