WEST CHESTER, PA — A West Chester woman is charged with multiple crimes after West Chester Police showed up on a domestic incident call Saturday and found a man they say was the victim of assault. Officers arrived in the 100 block of E. Miner Street in West Chester Borough around 7 p.m. Saturday, where a disturbance had been reported. A victim at that location had been assaulted in the 50 block of W. Gay Street, police reported. A police report said the victim had visible injuries from the assault that were not life-threatening, but charges indicate the injuries were serious. Denise Steinmetz, 31, of West Chester, has been charged with Aggravated Assault, attempting to cause serious bodily injury with extreme indifference, court records show. The charge is a first-degree felony. She is also charged with Simple Assault and with Recklessly Endangering Another Person, both misdemeanors. Bail for Steinmetz was set at $50,ooo, according to court records. A preliminary hearing is scheduled in Chester County District Court on July 23. Make sure you know what's happening in your town.
