Press release from the Village of Orland Park: 07/21/2021 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Orland Park Residents Concerned over Masking Policies The Village of Orland Park has received numerous inquiries regarding mask-wearing requirements still in place by local school districts as well as the Orland Park Public Library. Masks are no longer a requirement, but a choice, within all Village-owned facilities. "I want to thank the local residents who have reached out in regards to the requirements in place by local school districts and the library," said Mayor Keith Pekau. Parents and community members have expressed their frustrations with conflicting mask requirements. New guidance released recently  by health officials allow school districts more local control in implementing pandemic rules and procedures, including the option to make mask-wearing a choice rather than a requirement for students and families. "While I would be happy to help, there is little I can do as school districts and the Orland Park Public Library are separate taxing bodies and governed by their own elected boards," said Pekau.  "I recommend that those with concerns about the mask requirements contact the members of the school and library boards for answers and more information," said Pekau.  This press release was produced by the Village of Orland Park.
