Press release from the Village of Northbrook: July 21, 2021 On May 25, 2021, Village President Kathryn Ciesla and the Village Board of Trustees adopted a resolution endorsing the Welcoming and Inclusive Community Pledge. Recognizing that Northbrook is home to approximately 34,000 residents of diverse histories and identities, the Village of Northbrook pledges to support and serve all residents and families regardless of their backgrounds. The Welcoming and Inclusive Community Pledge makes the statement that a community must speak out against any and all discrimination, xenophobia, and hatred. The Village of Northbrook commits to helping promote the core American value that no one should be targeted because of their race, color, ethnicity, ancestry, national origin, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital and/or familial status, language, mental and/or physical impairment and/or disability, military status, economic class, immigration status, or any of the other characteristics that are often used to divide people.
