3 Shot, Police Officer Injured In Pittsburgh South Side Melee

PITTSBURGH, PA — Three people were shot and a police officer was injured early Friday in an incident in the city's South Side. According to the Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety, police responded to the scene just after 1:30 a.m. after hearing several shots fired near the intersection of East Carson and South 18th Street. Upon arriving, they found three men shot in nearby separate locations. At least two of the victims were treated by officers until medics arrived and transported the wounded to local trauma centers. One man is in critical condition with a chest wound; the other two are in serious condition. Four people were detained in connection with the incident. One officer suffered a wrist injury and was treated at a hospital. The names of the victims have not been released. Police have not indicated if criminal charges have been filed yet.
