MILL VALLEY, CA — A man was killed in Mill Valley Friday after being run over by his own vehicle according to the Marin County Sheriff's Office. The man has been identified by the coroner's office as Melvin Lee Raby, 68 of San Rafael. The collision occurred in the driveway of a property in 300 block of Summit Avenue where Raby was working, the Sheriff's Office said. A 9-1-1 call came in at around 1:20 p.m. reporting Raby was struck by his previously parked vehicle, which for reasons not yet known rolled backwards, striking Raby and pinning him between his vehicle and the residence according to the Sheriff's Office. First responders determined Raby was in cardiac arrest after he was extricated and pronounced him dead at the scene according to the Sheriff's Office. A post-mortem exam and toxicology testing are scheduled for later this week and the investigation of Raby's death is ongoing, the Sheriff's Office said. "The cause and manner of death will be pending the conclusion of the investigations being completed by the Mill Valley Police Department and the Marin County Sheriff's Office - Coroner Division," Chief Deputy Coroner Roger G. Fielding said in a statement. "No further information will be released by the Coroner Division at this time, as this is an active and ongoing investigation."
