JOLIET, IL — A Will County judge has set bail at $28,000 for a 30-year-old Joliet man accused of choking a relative at the Lois Place apartments this week. On Monday night, Joliet police responded to the apartment complex and arrested Maurice Scott Jr. on charges of aggravated domestic battery and two arrest warrants. The domestic disturbance call was reported around 8:40 p.m. in the 900 block of Lois Place. "Further investigation determined that during an argument in the home, Scott pushed the victim to the ground and began to choke her as she was on the ground," Joliet police announced. "Another person in the home intervened and removed Scott from atop his mother at which time Scott then again jumped on her and held her to the floor. Officers arrived to find Scott still on top of the victim. Scott was taken into custody without incident." Joliet police said that Scott also had active arrest warrants for failing to appear in court in Aurora for prostitution and in Kane County for burglary charges.
