FRANKFORT, IL — Will County Sheriff Mike Kelley announced July 20 via the Will County Sheriff's Office Facebook page that four business in Frankfort were cited for failing conducted compliance checks. More than a dozen compliance checks were conducted in unincorporated areas of Frankfort, New Lenox and Mokena.
The following business were issued citations:
Circle K-Shell Gas Station, 7654 W. Lincoln Highway. A citation was issued for the offense of selling alcohol to an underage person;The Price Chopper Tobacco Store, 7809 W. Lincoln Highway. A citation was issued for the offense of selling tobacco or alternative nicotine product to a minor;Speedway Gas Station, 19730 S. Harlem Ave. A citation was issued for the offense of selling alcohol to an underage person;BP Gas Station, 9595 W. Lincoln Highway. A citation was issued for the offense of selling tobacco or alternative nicotine products to a minor. The Sheriff's Office used members from the WCSO Explorers Program, an affiliate to the Boy Scouts of America, according to the post. The post stated that several WCSO Explorers, ages 15-18, were sent into stores and attempted to purchase alcohol or tobacco products with undercover Will County Sheriff's Deputies.
WCSO stated that this was the first compliance check of the year, with more planned in the future.
