DOYLESTOWN, PA — A York County man who managed the finances of a retired pastor pleaded guilty Friday to stealing tens of thousands of dollars from the Doylestown man, the York Dispatch reports. Robert "Butch" Redmond, 58, of Conewago Township, pleaded guilty on Friday to theft by deception involving the finances of the Rev. Albert Davidson Jr., a former pastor in York County who now lives at a rehabilitation care facility in Doylestown. Redmond was sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to pay more than $37,400 in restitution in the form of $300 monthly payments. Davidson entrusted the man with access to his bank account after the ex-pastor received a $68,000 insurance payout when his Spring Garden Township home burden down. He also gave Redmond's wife his power of attorney, though she was not charged with a crime, the newspaper reports. Authorities were tipped off to the theft when they learned that $68,000 had been moved from Davidson's account into a joint account with Redmond and his wife. Only $30,700 was used to pay for Davidson's care, according to charging documents. Davidson wants to move back to York County but is in poor health, according to Jonathan Stayer, who holds the current power of attorney over Davidson's finances.
