ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving a man left behind at a museum, a house burglary, illegal dumping, harassment, a park theft, stolen construction equipment and a DUI, among other things. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports: Man left behind An officer spoke with a man in a wheelchair Monday outside the Elmhurst Art Museum, 150 Cottage Hill Ave. The man said he was on an outing at the museum and that he was left behind. A bus from Lexington Square, 400 W. Butterfield Road, arrived and took the man back to the facility. House burglary A burglary took place about 8 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of Gladys Avenue. The victims said that when they returned home, they found their front door forced open. The bedrooms had been ransacked, and a cabinet had been forced open. Illegal dumping Honda on Grand, 300 W. Grand Ave., reported that a man discarded construction materials in the dealership's dumpster at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The man was described as wearing a blue hat, a black shirt and gray pants. His race was not included in the description. Credit card fraud A resident on Elm Creek Drive told police Tuesday that someone used her personal information in the last week to open several credit card accounts and make fraudulent purchases. Harassment A resident in the 400 block of Highview Avenue is having ongoing issues of youths ringing his doorbell, banging on his windows, breaking his window screens and damaging his flower beds and landscaping lights. The latest problems occurred Monday. Park theft Someone took a woman's backpack containing an iPhone, several keys and other items from a park bench about 8 a.m. Wednesday at Wilder Park, 175 Prospect Ave. Construction equipment theft A Honda brand generator and DeWalt brand air compressor were stolen from a fenced-in construction site overnight Monday in the 200 block of Addison Avenue. DUI Maryann Nomellini, 59, of Streamwood, was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Thursday at Route 83 and St. Charles on a charge of DUI. She was released on bond. Warrants Yuran Estuardo Lopez Carrillo, 19, of Bensenville, was arrested about 8 a.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of North Addison on a warrant and on charges of attempted obstruction of identification, consumption of alcohol by a minor and possession of open alcohol in public. He was released on bond. Herman Lawrence Nitz, 57, of Villa Park, was arrested about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Charles and Route 83 on an Illinois Department of Corrections warrant. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. According to a police report, officers came into contact with Nitz after a report of a suspicious person. Driving violations Cristian Ceballos, 31, of Chicago, was cited about 6 p.m. Monday at Lexington and York on charges of no valid driver's license and no seat belt. He was released on bond.Guillermo Meraz, 18, of Chicago, was cited about 5 p.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of West North on charges of driving with a suspended license, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, improper stopping on the roadway and improper use of registration. He was released on bond.Nika L. Capers, 28, of Gary, Indiana, was arrested shortly before midnight Tuesday at Route 83 and St. Charles on charges of no valid driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and improper lighting. She was released on bond. Lauren R. Faile, 21, of Addison, was cited about 1 a.m. Wednesday on charges of failure to report an accident, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Officers responded to a single-vehicle crash, in which Faile ran into a pile of construction rubble near Elmhurst Public Library, 125 Prospect Ave. Police report information is provided by local police departments.
