CHICAGO — A third suspect is reportedly in custody for the slaying of 7-year-old Jaslyn Adams, who was shot six times while sitting in a car with her father in the drive-thru lane at a fast food restaurant in Chicago. Devontay Anderson, 22, was identified as one of three men who drove their 2017 Audi to the McDonald's at 3200 W. Roosevelt Road, the afternoon of April 18. Anderson appeared on surveillance video aiming a Draco AK-47 into the girl's father's 2003 Infinity before firing dozens of rounds into the car, based on police reports. Chicago police believe the young girl's father was the intended target, who was shot in the back. The Cook County State's Attorney's Office charged Anderson along with two other men with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. After learning that Anderson may have fled the state where he was believed to have connections in Indiana and Florida, he was charged in federal court with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. A federal warrant was issued for his arrest. On Monday, a motion was filed in federal court to dismiss the unlawful flight complaint when FBI agents arrested Anderson July 19 in Chicago, according to court documents. The state charges still stand. A $25,000 reward had been posted for information leading to Anderson's arrest. Two other men. Marion Lewis, 18, and 21-year-old Demond Goudy, have also been charged in Jaslyn's slaying and are currently being held at Cook County Jail.
