Here are the top stories in Toledo today: According to the Lucas County Health Department, two rabies-positive bats were discovered in Sylvania Township. The department has outlined steps to take if confronted with a potentially dangerous animal, such as avoiding contact and calling animal control. (WTOL) A Toledo woman has died after suffering a dog bite to the neck. Emily Kahl was 31 when she suffered the fatal injury, which occurred near the 600 block of Hamilton Street. (13abc Action News) According to Toledo Police data, 2020 saw the city's most homicides in 39 years, with 57. That's a 62% increase from 2019, and the last time the numbers were higher was in 1980, when 60 homicides were recorded. (WTOL) Washington Local Schools is offering a capped open enrollment option to help bolster its numbers and save jobs. The district includes Whitmer high school and has sent out over 100 acceptance letters to families in the area.
